What did you do prior to joining Cox?
Prior to joining Valpak, I worked as a consultant with private and publicly traded companies and nonprofits. I've consulted for numerous companies with Diageo, Snoop Dogg Records and Anheuser-Busch being amongst my favorite clients. As a consultant I helped my clients connect their brands with new apparent demographics, and helped them develop culturally relevant and authentic messaging.
What excites you the most about working with Valpak?
Valpak has an incredible opportunity to access new markets and talent by using the existing awareness of the blue envelope (Valpak's signature product). This opportunity will allow Valpak access to younger, culturally diverse and savvy customers.
Is there a person or persons who you admire and have been influential in your life and career?
My mom has been an entrepreneur for the last 30 years and supports my every move. She taught me about business by allowing me to get involved at a young age. While in school, no matter what the grade, she would ask, "Did you do everything you could to get this grade?" I've used that line of questioning for myself and others to this day.
When you are not at work, how do you spend your free time?
If I'm not in the gym lifting (former power lifter) then you can find me watching a movie or experimenting on the grill (my new passion since moving to Florida).
If you could trade lives with anyone for a day who would it be and why?
President Barack Obama. As the first African American president, it has to be surreal to be in the position. As the leader of our country, I would like to be a part of the conversations that shape the world to be a better place for our children.
If a movie was made of your life, what genre would it be and who would star as you?
Sci-fi, the Matrix and Star Wars are my favorite movie series. I'd like Idris Alba to play me because he is a great actor who is cool and has yet to hit his prime.
