R. Robert Woodard is the vice president of Cox Talent Acquisition. He is responsible for driving and implementing recruitment strategies for all Cox Enterprises businesses — broadband communications, automotive services and media.
Before joining Cox Talent Acquisition, Woodard spent several years in leadership at Cox Communications. Most recently he was vice president of receivables management. In this role, he was charged with managing enterprise receivables and Cox’s collections operations, including the Centers of Excellence in Phoenix, Hampton Roads, Va. and Canada, as well as outsourced partners in field collections, back office operations and third-party agencies both in the U.S. and abroad.
Woodard’s previous positions at Cox Communications include market vice president for Omaha, Nebraska and Sun Valley, Idaho; vice president of network maintenance and construction for the six-state region; vice president of technical operations in Las Vegas, where the company earned top marks for customer satisfaction among all Cox Communications systems; and vice president of field operations in the Gulf Coast region. Prior to these roles, he served as vice president of customer care, overseeing operations in the Kansas market, serving 22 locations.
Earlier in his career, Woodard worked at Verizon Wireless — formerly GTE Mobilnet — in Illinois, Texas, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. He joined GTE Mobilnet as a collections agent and worked his way to director of the Great Lakes region, where he managed three collections call centers for Verizon Wireless.
After graduating from East Carolina University, he went on to earn a master’s degree in business administration from Auburn University. His continuing education achievements include Dartmouth College Tuck School of Business/SCTE Leadership Development Program, Harvard Business School Executive Development Program and the University of Georgia Terry College of Business Cox Executive Development Program.
Woodard supports several charitable organizations including the American Heart Association, Habitat for Humanity, Goodwill, American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, local LGBTQI+ organizations and more. He has served on the board of Girls Inc. and The Center, an organization dedicated to human rights issues and anti-bullying in southern Nevada. He was also a VP champion for Cox’s diversity and inclusion efforts both with employees and the community.
In his spare time, Woodard enjoys traveling — especially to tropical and historic locations — and relaxing with family and friends.
