About Myroslava Fisun

Albany, California

At just 16 years of age, Myroslava has worked locally, nationally, and globally to help protect the environment.

She has served as a Sunrise Movement hub coordinator for the entire Bay Area in California, the youngest person to have ever held this position. She also serves on Albany’s Climate Action Committee and currently chairs the committee that sets and monitors sustainable goals for the city.

Myroslava is also the first high school student to hold the position of co-director at Stanford Climate and Health. She has conducted environmental research through Stanford, such as examining the effect of providing information brochures to patients at local clinics on the issue of medical waste.

She’s a volunteer docent at Aquarium of the Bay in San Francisco, logging almost 150 hours of helping visitors understand the importance of oceans and the negative of climate change on our local environment. She is also a member of the Youth Leadership Council of EarthEcho International, an organization founded by Philippe Cousteau, Jr. She has traveled to Washington, DC with this organization and has met with lawmakers to talk to them about the importance of ocean health and protected marine areas.
