Dave has trained hundreds of people on open-source Precious Plastics equipment, upcycling thousands of pounds of plastic waste into furniture and long-life objects while raising awareness of global plastic pollution and microplastics. He presents to academic and environmental organizations and works with high school and college students, artists, engineers, medical professionals, and civic groups to support STEM, art and entrepreneurial projects focused on sustainability and reducing plastic waste while supporting sustainability efforts locally and globally.
Dave partners with students from 20 Bay Area schools, 5 UCs, Stanford, Loyola Marymount and Pitzer, along with businesses, environmental organizations, hospitals, microplastics research groups and 450 Precious Plastics groups worldwide. By upcycling tons of plastic, he helps keep waste out of landfills, rivers and seas.
Dave oversees hundreds of volunteers, students, and nonprofits in his shop, offering hands-on training, college prep, and job skills while presenting across California. His impact reaches globally, sharing plastic-reduction practices through in-person and virtual collaboration across Africa, Europe, South America, Asia, and the U.S.
