Detroit Hives transforms vacant lots across Detroit into green spaces that support both communities and pollinators. The organization manages urban beehives home to more than 2.5 million honeybees, while also running youth education programs that teach kids about beekeeping and the importance of pollinator health.
To date, Detroit Hives has converted 38+ vacant lots into vibrant green spaces and harvests over 1,000 pounds of honey annually. Each year, the organization educates thousands of kids on the vital role pollinators play in our ecosystem — turning overlooked land into places of learning, growth, and community connection.
