By day, Cox Automotive team member Jessica Brooks is a senior sales strategy analyst at Manheim. She joined Cox in 2009, and as her career has blossomed over the past nine years, so have her personal ventures.
From food blogging to competitive body building, Jessica has taken on several passion projects outside of work. Most recently, she celebrated the one-year anniversary of her fashion brand, J. Brooks Boutique.
A native of Chattanooga, Tenn. and graduate of Agnes Scott College, Jessica has always enjoyed being creative. When she decided to jump headfirst into fashion in 2016, she purchased a sewing machine and watched sewing videos on YouTube. She made her first garment one week later and released her colorful, bold and bright clothes online. Soon enough, the clothing line started to gather a following. The store touts “statement pieces with modern sophistication” and a mission to provide unique, high-quality designs with vibrant colors and timeless silhouettes.
A one-woman shop in the early stages of J. Brooks Boutique, Jessica is now able to outsource some production and marketing. “It can be difficult [balancing working at Cox Automotive and building a brand], but I always focus on my work priorities when I’m here and make sure I’m driving the business in a positive way. I typically wake up early to work on J. Brooks Boutique and continue that work after hours,” she said. With her sights set on a brick and mortar showroom and studio next, Jessica plans to continue expanding the brand.
When asked about how Cox supports her fashion dream, Jessica said: “Manheim is extremely supportive. I am lucky to be a part of a culture that supports my dream and asks about each milestone. My team members have purchased several items, and I’m working on special projects from some of my colleagues. I realize that not every company is like that and that’s what makes Cox Automotive special. I am fully invested in the work that I do here.”
