What’s new:
- Emergency expense withdrawals: For sudden, unforeseeable personal or family qualifying emergencies, the plan now allows you to withdraw $1,000. This option can be used once every three years, or once a year if you repay the previous withdrawal.
- Domestic abuse withdrawal: If you or a household member has been a victim of domestic abuse within the last year, you are eligible to withdraw up to the lesser of $10,500 or 50% of your vested account balance (minimum $1,000) to cover related financial hardships.
- Qualified Disaster Recovery Distributions (QDRDs): If a federally declared disaster affects your principle residence and causes a financial loss, you can withdraw up to $22,000 to support your recovery. You must have been impacted within the last six months, and this distribution is limited to once per 12-month period.
Important: While no early distribution penalties will apply to these withdrawals, normal taxes will.
The bottom line: These new 401(k) distribution options reflect our commitment to supporting you when life takes an unexpected turn while continuing to encourage your long-term financial well-being.
