Mission and Vision

It’s good business to be good citizens. We are committed to helping shape a better world.

For more than 125 years, we’ve been boldly challenging the status quo and addressing the world’s most pressing problems. Cox Enterprises was founded in 1898 by James M. Cox, a forward-thinking journalist and the future governor of Ohio. Today, Cox remains a family-owned company grounded by both a storied history and future-focused innovation. Our mission, ways of working, knowledge and commitment to people form a cultural fabric that is remarkably flexible, but extraordinarily strong.

Our guiding principles

These are the values that shape how we work, collaborate and lead. They’re how we live our mission every day.

Our guiding principles emphasize integrity, respect and accountability, and encourage everyone to lead by example. It’s about celebrating wins. Amplifying voices. Recognizing greatness. Finding joy in the journey. Giving back generously. And most of all — doing the right thing. Always.

Our vision

At Cox, we envision a better future for this generation and the next – and our people have the grit, grace and gray matter to bring it to life.
