ATLANTA, October 4, 2024 — The James M. Cox Foundation today announced donations totaling $450,000 to support relief efforts in communities impacted by Hurricane Helene. The funds will be distributed among the following three organizations that are providing critical assistance to residents grappling with power outages, limited shelter options and shortages of necessities in the storm's aftermath.

Metropolitan Ministries in Tampa, Florida, will receive $250,000 to provide food, shelter, water and emergency supplies to Tampa and St. Petersburg, Florida, residents.

The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina in Raleigh, North Carolina, will receive $100,000 to distribute food, water, shelter and emergency supplies, including tarps and non-perishable food, to residents of Raleigh and surrounding areas affected by flooding.

Golden Harvest Food Bank in Augusta, Georgia, will receive $100,000 to distribute food, water and emergency supplies to residents of Augusta and 24 surrounding counties.

“Everyone who has seen the devastation this storm has caused knows how much help these areas need,” said Jim Kennedy, chairman emeritus of Cox Enterprises and chairman of the James M. Cox Foundation. “We want to help as many people as possible so they can begin to recover and rebuild.”
