Winners of Chairman's Challenge Recognized for Carbon-Cutting Actions
06/05/2025
Cox Enterprises, a global company dedicated to empowering people to build a better future, is proud to announce the winners of its 2025 Chairman's Challenge, an annual campaign that raises environmental awareness and rallies employees to take action in support of a common goal. This year, that goal was to reduce energy use and carbon emissions.
Between March 31 and May 2, Cox volunteers donated over 8,000 hours of their time, participated in more than 100 events and supported nearly 50 nonprofit organizations. Altogether, employees kept over 2,000 metric tons of carbon from entering Earth's atmosphere.
The employees who earned the most points from participating in Chairman's Challenge activities worked with the James M. Cox Foundation to award grants to environmental nonprofits of their choice.
The $15,000 grant recipients and their chosen nonprofits are:
- Marc Warnock, Cox Communications: Scantic River Watershed Association
- Ashish Garg, Cox Automotive: TreeUtah
- Zachary Link, Cox Enterprises: Arbor Day Foundation
The $2,500 grant recipients and their chosen nonprofits are:
- Christine Woodhouse, Cox Communications: Georgia Native Plant Society
- Michael Buoscio, Cox Automotive: Openlands
- Santayana Carmichael, Cox Enterprises: West Atlanta Watershed Alliance
Other participants were randomly selected to win eco-friendly prizes, including $500 travel vouchers, Segway e-scooters, Vitamix countertop composters and Google Nest Learning Thermostats.
Jim Kennedy, chairman emeritus of Cox Enterprises and chairman of the James M. Cox Foundation, launched the first Chairman's Challenge in 2012 to support Cox's ongoing commitment to drive positive change. Visit CoxEnterprises.com to learn more about our impact.
