Cox Employees Win LGBTQI+ Awards
Two Cox Enterprises employees, Brien Faucett and Grey Hardy, were honored Sept. 21 at the Atlanta Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (AGLCC) Community Awards Dinner.
The annual awards dinner recognizes members of the LGBTQI+ community, as well as corporations who support the community.
Faucett, a senior specialist on the Cox Enterprises corporate social responsibility team, received the Rising Star award. This award is given to a young professional who shows great potential in their career path as well as for their community service.
According to Sheila Merritt, corporate partner relationship manager at the chamber, Faucett shows great promise as a young professional moving along his career path.
“He has extraordinary talents and skills, which allow him to stand out among his peers," she said. “Since his emergence on the scene, he has been consistent with his professionalism, acumen and support.”
Hardy, manager of production operations at Cox Enterprises, was awarded the inaugural Business Person of the Year award. This new award was created to be inclusive and recognize the outstanding contributions of business people of all gender identities and/or gender expressions.
After receiving the award, Hardy thanked the AGLCC for creating a category that gives gender non-binary people visibility and a voice. “This award reflects the positive work that was done during my time as a non-gender conforming person. Thank you for recognizing and validating the work I have done to move the LGBTQ community forward positively,” said Hardy.
Cox Enterprises was honored to receive several nominations for the company and its employees, including Corporate Ally of the Year.
“Knowing that Cox values and supports organizations like AGLCC is very inspiring,” said Faucett. “I’m proud and honored to have the opportunity to represent the company in the community.”
