"Common Cents" brings financial literacy to young professionals

ATLANTA, Sept. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The team from Clark.com announces that Clark Howard, America's money-saving guru and host of the nationally syndicated radio show The Clark Howard Show, will deliver the keynote address at this year's FinCon Expo, a major conference in San Diego attended by experts from across the world with the common goal of "helping hundreds reach millions" with a positive money message.

Clark.com is dedicated to helping consumers save more, spend less and avoid rip-offs. "I'm excited to be at FinCon," said Howard. "I'm an entrepreneur at heart, and I love what these men and women are doing to help others with their wallets."

The Clark Team also announces the launch of a new series at FinCon named "Common Cents," aimed at educating and empowering young professionals to take control of their money, life and future. Led by Clark.com Managing Editor Alex Sadler, The "Common Cents" series kicks off with "10 basic lessons every young adult should know about money," including why and how to budget, how to save, how credit works, how to buy a home, tackling student loan debt, and how to start investing.

"Research shows that young people are looking for answers to their money questions, but they don't know where to turn. I know, because I was one of them until years of working with Clark," said Sadler. "If you want to get ahead, you have to learn how to manage your money and take control, because no one is going to do it for you. That's why we're breaking down the most important concepts that young people need to know to get a handle on things and successfully navigate adulthood. Because you don't have to know everything, it just takes some common cents."

Facebook fans of Clark can tune into a Facebook Live segment in partnership with NerdWallet on Thursday, September 22 at 12:30 p.m. ET.

The Clark.com website continues to experience record growth, having reached 31.5 million views already this year, after surpassing 54 million views in 2015. Clark Deals, a new sub-site of Clark.com, is dedicated to delivering the best "Clark-approved" daily deals and savings all in one place. Clark Deals is also experiencing rapid growth since its launch earlier this year. The discount-savings portal, which sends out a daily newsletter, is increasing its offerings and expanding its partnerships to provide even more savings from top discount retailers. More exclusive deals are expected to be announced in the coming months.

FinCon takes place September 21-24, and Howard will address attendees of the event on Thursday, September 22, at 4:30 p.m., in the Grande Ballroom of the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina.
