Cox Blankets O.C. Great Park with Connectivity Infrastructure
03/15/2019
Irvine, Calif. – As the Orange County Great Park continues to expand and offer new attractions, Cox Business, the commercial division of Cox Communications, has deployed a high capacity fiber network capable of delivering a full-suite of technology solutions to enhance the connected guest and fan experience at facilities across Orange County Great Park and surrounding areas.
Early in the development of Orange County Great Park, Cox Business was the first to make an investment to deploy fiber-optic infrastructure throughout the campus. Access to high-speed internet underpins the vision for Orange County Great Park, which features an outdoor amphitheater, soccer stadium, ice rink and various athletic fields, to develop and innovate connected fan and guest experiences unlike most multi-purpose venues in Southern California.
“FivePoint builds communities in ways that bring people of different ages, backgrounds and interests together to establish meaningful connections,” said Steve Churm, executive vice president of Public Affairs at FivePoint. “Cox Business shares our commitment to facilitate interactions and enhance connectivity among everyone visiting the Orange County Great Park.”
“Orange County Great Park, and the facilities it offers, will soon be the place to go, and to play. Cox brings much-needed connectivity to the visitors and makes the guest experience even better. We can’t wait to see the area continue to grow,” said Mayor Donald P. Wagner, City of Irvine.
Cox Business capabilities across Orange County Great Park include state-of-the-art IP voice solutions, including unified communications, dedicated fiber internet, managed WiFi access points, advanced network and premise security, cable television, and hosted cloud solutions.
“We were the first to deploy fiber at Orange County Great Park, and we’re excited to continue our relationship with FivePoint and the city of Irvine – two trail-blazers creating a smart and connected ecosystem for residents,” said Jodi Duva, vice president, Cox Business. “At Orange County Great Park, we implemented technology that will take the fan experience to the next level and enable guests to easily share their stories with others more seamlessly via their mobile devices.”
“Increasingly, the demand for advanced technologies is driven by high consumer expectations that world class venues deliver an exceptional connected guest experience. Cox Business is leading the way with large, multi-service and bandwidth-intensive installations at the nation’s largest arenas and stadiums,” said Steve Rowley, executive vice president, Cox Business. “We’re extremely proud to serve Orange County Great Park.”
Relying in part on its Hospitality Network division to implement the advanced technologies, Cox Business has years’ worth of large-scale technology deployments at arenas, convention areas and meeting facilities.
