Cox Enterprises Names Charles Odom as Vice President and Treasurer
06/26/2014
Cox Enterprises today named Charles Odom as vice president and treasurer, effective July 1. He will report to Maria Friedman, senior vice president of tax and treasury services.
In his new role, Odom will be responsible for managing Cox Enterprises’ capital structure and monitoring ongoing funding needs. He will oversee the company’s capital raising activities, including bond issuance, bank financing and securitizations.
“Charles has done a tremendous job overseeing financial operations for a broad portfolio of brands, and we’re thrilled to bring this level of talent to the treasury role from within one of our divisions,” said Friedman. “He has nearly two decades of experience with Cox and played a key role in several high-profile initiatives, including the privatization of Cox’s radio stations and the company’s bold creation of Cox Media Group. Both of these initiatives positioned the company for digital growth and industry leadership.”
Odom most recently served as senior vice president and chief financial officer for Cox Media Group (CMG), an integrated broadcasting, publishing, direct marketing and digital media division of Cox Enterprises. He was responsible for all financial accounting and reporting, financial planning and analysis, financial systems and finance process improvement for CMG’s media companies, Cox Reps’ national and Valpak. He held several roles since joining Cox in 1996 and previously worked for Deloitte.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Mercer University and completed the Kellogg Management Institute program at Northwestern University.
