Cox Enterprises Promotes Byron Whitt to Director of Digital Communications

Cox Enterprises today announced that Byron Whitt has been promoted to director of digital communications, effective immediately. He will continue reporting to Ed Patterson, senior director of public affairs.

“As Cox’s companies continue to be technology leaders in their industries, digital solutions play a pivotal role,” said Patterson.  “Byron is a technology and communications expert and has done a tremendous job elevating the company’s digital products at the corporate level and positioning them for growth.”

Whitt oversees the enterprise-wide digital strategy for the company’s corporate portal and external sites. He leads social media strategies and mobile solutions at Cox Enterprises and serves as a digital consultant for the company’s major subsidiaries.

He joined Cox in 2001 as a corporate communications specialist and most recently served as senior manager of interactive communications. Prior to Cox, he served as an employee communications manager at ProAct Technologies.

Whitt earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Alabama. He is a member of the Atlanta Interactive Marketing Association, International Association of Business Communicators and SocialMedia.org. Whitt volunteers with Habitat for Humanity.
