Cox Enterprises Promotes Keith Mask to Vice President of Environmental Sustainability

01/19/2017

Cox Enterprises today announced that Keith Mask has been promoted to vice president of environmental sustainability, effective immediately. He reports to Lacey Lewis, senior vice president of finance.

“This year marks the 10th anniversary of our Cox Conserves sustainability program, and I’m proud to say that Keith was one of the individuals who launched this important initiative and has been key to the sustainability goals we have accomplished to date,” said Lewis. “Keith has been key to our sustainability accomplishments to date and shows that sustainability is good for the environment and the bottom line. Cox Conserves is an important part of our company’s culture, and he brings his passion for sustainability to Cox daily.”

Mask oversees the national Cox Conserves sustainability program that has goals to send zero waste to landfill by 2024 and become carbon and water neutral by 2044. The holistic program focuses on employees, operations, community partners and suppliers. Since 2007, Cox Enterprises has invested $100 million in sustainability. Through these investments, the company has offset 82,000 tons of carbon, diverted 97,000 tons of waste from landfill and conserved 57 million gallons of water.

Since 2007, Mask’s team has completed nearly 400 sustainability projects across 29 states that focus on alternative energy, energy efficiency, energy procurement, waste management and water conservation. Mask works closely with Cox’s divisions (Cox Communications, Cox Automotive, Cox Media Group) and corporate departments to ensure sustainability is part of the company’s ongoing operations. He also helps lead initiatives for Seven Islands Environmental Solutions, a Cox subsidiary.

Prior to joining Cox in 1999, Mask spent 18 years with Georgia Power and held roles in power generation, marketing and engineering. He currently serves on Urjanet’s board of advisors and has been a guest lecturer in sustainability at the Georgia Institute of Technology and Furman University.

Mask received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
