10/09/2014

Cox Media Group (CMG) welcomes the employees at its new TV stations WFXT-TV FOX 25 in Boston and WHBQ-TV FOX 13 in Memphis. Earlier this summer, CMG and The Fox Television Stations, Inc. announced they would swap FOX affiliated stations in Boston and Memphis for two CMG stations located in the San Francisco-Bay Area market, KTVU FOX 2 and KICU Channel 36.

“Countless hours of hard work have taken place over the last few months to prepare for today, and I want to thank everyone at Cox Media Group, in Boston and in Memphis who made today a reality,” said Jane Williams, CMG’s Executive VP of Television.  “We look forward to supporting these new stations as they continue playing key roles in their communities; providing vital news, information and entertainment to their audiences; and offering targeted sales solutions to their clients.”

Williams added that, at the same time, CMG wishes everyone at KTVU/KICU in the San Francisco Bay Area all the best as they begin a new chapter as a part of The Fox Television Stations.

Boston’s WFXT-TV FOX 25

Boston is ranked as the No. 7 designated market area (DMA) and comprises more than 2.4 million households.  Viewers in Boston and Manchester, NH can tune into WFXT-TV on Comcast Channel 25, DirecTV Channel 25 and Dish Channel 25.

CMG’s new Boston VP and General Manager is Tom Raponi, who comes to Boston from KTVU/KICU in San Francisco.

“I am looking forward to joining the FOX 25 team and competing with the great broadcasters in the Boston market,” said Raponi. “Together, with the help of the great resources that Cox Media Group provides to all of its stations we will work hard to build on the station’s current success.”

Memphis’ WHBQ-TV FOX 13

Memphis is ranked as the No. 50 designated market area (DMA) and comprises 672,390 TV Households.  Viewers in Memphis, West Tennessee, East Arkansas and North Mississippi can tune into WHBQ-TV on Comcast Channel 13, DirecTV Channel 13 and Dish Channel 13.

“Joining a group with the historic market leadership and success of the Cox Media Group stations is a tremendous opportunity for our team in Memphis,” said WHBQ-TV VP and General Manager John Koski. “We look forward to writing our next chapter reflecting the unmatched quality, service, and new media innovation of CMG for the benefit of our viewers and the success of our advertising partners in the Mid-South.”
