From Inside Radio: Cox Tulsa Mounts 13-Hour Fundraiser To Support Red Cross After Flooding

06/03/2019

Following this week’s disastrous tornadoes and flooding in Green Country, on May 30, the company’s five radio stations will join Fox affiliate KOKI-TV at LaFortune Park and broadcast live as part of a 13-hour fundraiser.

The media group’s five radio brands in the market are “News 102.3” KRMG, hot AC “Mix96.5” KRAV, classic rock “103.3 The Eagle” KJSR, country “K99.5” KWEN and rock “105.7 The Bone,” which originates on a KWEN HD channel and simulcasts on the Tulsa-licensed translator K289CC.

The initiative continues a Red Cross fundraising effort Cox launched more than a week ago. On Tuesday, May 21, the Tulsa stations began a broadcast campaign to encourage online donations to the American Red Cross of Oklahoma. Funds raised through these campaigns will help Oklahomans impacted by the storms.

“Supporting our community in a time of uncertainty and stress is something that is part of the fabric of our organization,” says CMG-Tulsa Market VP Cathy Gunther. “We are honored to be able to do something to help our neighbors and know that our viewers and listeners will respond.”

Cox and American Red Cross volunteers will collect cash and check donations onsite May 30, while supporters can contribute by texting OKLAHOMA to 95920.
