Nominate Your Cox Conserves Hero Between July 1–31
07/01/2019
Visit CoxConservesHeroes.com and nominate an environmental volunteer between July 1–31 from these select markets:
- Arizona: Phoenix and Southern Arizona
- California: Orange County, Palos Verdes, San Diego, Santa Barbara
- Florida: Orlando
- Georgia: Metro Atlanta
- Idaho: Sun Valley
- Louisiana: Acadiana, Baton Rouge, New Orleans
- Massachusetts: Boston
- Virginia: Hampton Roads
- Washington: Western Washington/Seattle
Who to Submit
This contest is open to the public. Nominees must be engaged in projects that create, protect and/or beautify an outdoor community space. They must work on a volunteer basis, not as part of their employment. And they must inspire others to engage in community conservation. Employees of Cox Enterprises, our affiliated companies and The Trust for Public Land (our environmental partner) are not eligible, nor are past Cox Conserves Heroes awards recipients and finalists.
What Happens Next
Once nominations are submitted by the July 31 deadline, each market will choose their individual finalist. Each finalist receives $10,000 to donate to their local environmental nonprofit of choice and is then entered into the National Cox Conserves Hero contest that’s voted on Oct. 1–15 by Cox employees and the public. The winner will be announced Oct. 22 and will receive an additional $50,000 to donate to their local environmental nonprofit of choice.
Why Cox Conserves Heroes?
Green spaces serve a special purpose in our communities. They bring people together, promote physical activity and reconnect us with the outdoors. The people who work tirelessly to create, preserve or enhance our outdoor spaces deserve special recognition. At Cox, we’ve created the Cox Conserves Heroes awards program to honor standout environmental volunteers and help further their cause with a donation to their nonprofit of choice.
Since 2008, Cox has honored more than 200 volunteers across the nation who made a significant impact on conservation and environmental protection in our communities. In partnership with the Trust for Public Land, an organization that protects and creates parks, we have donated $990,000 to environmental nonprofits through The James M. Cox Foundation.
