Chairman’s Challenge
Chairman and CEO Alex Taylor is continuing our long tradition of empowering people today to build a better future for the next generation through efforts to improve the environment. In 2007, Chairman Emeritus Jim Kennedy launched Cox Conserves, our national sustainability program that seeks to send zero waste to landfill by 2024 and become carbon and water neutral by 2034. Jim also launched the first Chairman’s Challenge to our employees in 2012.
For the 2023 Chairman's Challenge, Chairman and CEO Alex Taylor is calling on Cox employees to become a “Water Warriors” and help us reach our goal to be water neutral by 2034. Employees will have the opportunity to calculate their water footprint, join a virtual presentation featuring Erin Brockovich and find local volunteer opportunities.
Those participating in the month-long series of events and activities will earn points for their actions. Award winners will work with the James M. Cox Foundation to contribute to environmental nonprofits of their choice.
Since launching Cox Conserves, Cox Enterprises has invested more than $1 billion in sustainable businesses and technologies. The James M. Cox Foundation has awarded more than $95 million to environmental and conservation causes since 2011.
