Cox Business Enters Cloud Computing

08/17/2018

Businesses need better ways to manage, store and access information on multiple devices, and with a secure platform. That’s why Cox Business has acquired RapidScale, a leading managed and hybrid managed cloud services provider.

The addition of RapidScale effectively turns Cox Business (the commercial division of Cox Communications) into a cloud computing powerhouse. It immediately enhances Cox’s ability to deliver a wide range of technology to commercial customers that are looking to improve their productivity and reduce IT expenditures. RapidScale’s managed cloud solutions include desktop, server, mail, backup and recovery.

Buying RapidScale also reinforces Cox Communications’ commitment to diversifying from telecommunications into the realm of IT and managed services.

“Businesses today need a true technology partner to deliver innovation that helps them transform operations, better engage with customers and remain competitive,” said Steve Rowley, executive vice president, Cox Business. “Adding RapidScale to the Cox family grows our business in a strategic manner by improving our cloud platform and enhances our value to business customers, regardless of size or vertical market.”

The acquisition of RapidScale is the latest in a string of strategic investments by Cox Business aimed at strengthening and diversifying the business beyond its core.
