Meet Shawn MacIntyre

Shawn MacIntyre is not your average salesman.

For one thing, the CMG Ohio media consultant has more kilts in his closet than he does dress pants (more on that later).

He also has a golden throat — one he employed during the first decade of his career as a disc jockey at a Dayton radio station and continues to use in his side business recording voiceovers for commercials.

But while it was his voice that got him into media, it was his salesmanship that has rocketed him to the top of his profession. Over the past 18 years, Shawn has learned to use his prodigious powers of persuasion to sell print, radio, TV, direct mail and digital advertising to clients. And it’s a job he said he “absolutely loves.”

“It’s truly about being in front of the clients and in constant contact. You’re not the ‘set it and forget it’ guy. You’re checking in to see if things are working. Seeing if they are getting a response. Seeing if you need to change the creative. Being a true consultant to the partners of the company.”

Customers clearly love Shawn’s approach. He is a two-time President Circle Award Winner for high achieving salespeople at CMG (2016, 2017) and he’s been nominated six times by the Dayton Ad Club as the best TV and cable advertising rep.

But what about those kilts?

Well, Shawn is also a talented musician whose Celtic Americana folk band, Father Son and Friends, performs around the country and even internationally roughly 30 weekends a year. He sings and plays bagpipes, mandolin, Irish tenor banjo and guitar alongside his 68-year-old father and a rotating cast of friends. Shawn’s wife helps with the concert audio. And lately, Shawn’s 7-year-old son has even started joining the band on stage.

“It’s now three generations on the stage, which is certainly fun,” said Shawn. “It is truly a full-on family band.”
